So with Course-sites I have found out there is still a lot to know but I am absolutely enjoying it. It is a great tool to help establish lesson plans, units, projects and much more. It has many interactive tools that students can use as well as many tools to help make sure you as a teacher have everything you need to make your unit/lesson/project great!
I created a Web-quest for a small unit over The First Five Planets. The web-quest includes links to websites that will help the students to explore on their own and help to keep the students interested in what is being taught.
A tool that i had found very useful is the rubric tool. Although there are many sites that can help creating rubrics easy such as rubristar, this tool was also very helpful. It allowed you to pick your topics as well as the information that will be graded.
Another useful tools are the discussion boards, and the journals. with the discussion board you can allow the students to communicate between each other or to discuss topics during the class. This is a great way to help monitor the students progress during the lessons or topics being discussed.
with the journals I thought this was a great idea to use, and in my unit i made sure the students knew that these journals were available to help them. I encouraged them to write about things that they had found interesting or things that they did not like. I also encouraged them to use the journals as a communication tool with me. I suggested that they ask any questions that they have and I would monitor their journals and help when they needed it.
